Google Num 100 & Pagination Update
[WTSNewsletter Headline Sponsor: DemandSphere]

Google’s &num=100 Retired: What It Means for SERP Tracking

Ray Grieselhuber of DemandSphere breaks down Google’s quiet removal of the &num=100 parameter and what it means for SEO data.

Many SEO tools used the &num=100 parameter to retrieve 100 results in one shot. Now that Google disables it, those tools must switch to paginated fetching. That increases complexity, latency, the possibility of data loss or inconsistency, and cost of data collection.

DemandSphere is rolling out updates provide the top 5 SERP pages data at no additional cost to their users.

WTSNewsletter Series: From invisible to indexed in AI search

Part 3: How Prerendering Can Help Make You Visible to AI Crawlers
[See part 1 and part 2]

Series Author: Tiffany Kroll

Hello WTS community! - I'm Tiffany, Director of Growth at WTSPartner, Prerender.io. I'm excited for this 3 part series on a critical (but often overlooked) aspect of our changing SEO space: website visibility for AI crawlers.
---

In part 1 and part 2 of this series, we explored why content on many sites is often invisible to AI crawlers, and how you can diagnose if your site is affected.

Today, I'm sharing practical solutions to ensure your content is visible to both traditional and AI search systems.

The Main Solutions for AI Visibility

When tackling AI visibility issues, you have a few main options:

  1. Rebuild your website. This one requires serious effort. But if it’s in your capacity, this will allow you to use different frameworks that are less dependent on JavaScript to improve your visibility.
  2. In-house server-side rendering (SSR). This involves building and maintaining your own infrastructure to serve HTML content on your server when a crawler requests your pages. HTML is much more AI-crawler friendly. However, in-house SSR can be costly to implement and maintain.
  3. A prerendering solution like Prerender.io. Similar to SSR, prerendering creates complete HTML snapshots of your pages for crawlers, but without requiring significant resources. Let’s dive into it.
What is Prerendering?

Prerendering creates fully-visible HTML versions of your web pages specifically for crawlers while continuing to serve the interactive version to human visitors.

It works by:

  1. Detecting crawler requests
  2. Generating a complete HTML snapshot of your page
  3. Serving this snapshot to the crawler
  4. Maintaining the original experience for users

This approach gives you the best of both worlds: rich user experiences and complete crawler visibility.

Here’s a short explainer video to highlight how it works.

See the Difference with "What AI Sees"

The free "What AI Sees" tool demonstrates this transformation visually:

  1. See what AI crawlers currently see on your site (often shockingly little)
  2. Preview what they would see with proper prerendering
  3. Get a detailed report of content gaps and visibility issues

Benefits of a Solution like Prerender.io (vs. In-House SSR)

Here at Prerender, we handle the entire process with minimal setup:

  • Seamlessly integrates with your site
  • No major overhaul required like with in-house SSR
  • Set-up and go: no need for significant ongoing maintenance
  • Cost-savings and revenue opportunities. See your revenue potential from prerendering with our free ROI calculator.
  • Flexible payment options. You can try it out for free!
Real-World Results

Some improvements we’ve noticed for sites that implement prerendering:

  • 95% improvement in visibility for AI crawlers
  • 300x better crawling
  • 260% faster indexing
  • 80% increase in traffic
Getting Started

If you're interested in using prerendering for your site, here are some next steps:

  1. Use our free "What AI Sees" tool to assess your current visibility
  2. Then, create a free Prerender.io account
  3. Integrate your site
  4. Allow AI crawlers during your integration process, such as GPTBot
  5. Watch your AI crawling activity rise in your Prerender dashboard!

I hope this series has helped highlight both the challenge and opportunity of AI search visibility. Any questions? I’m all ears. Feel free to DM me on WTS Slack or on Linkedin!

Speak soon, and I hope to see some of you at BrightonSEO this October! 😊

Boost your AI visibility with social
[WTSNewsletter WTSPartner: Uberall]

WTSer and Director of SEO Testing at RicketyRoo, Celeste Gonzalez, unpacks how AI search is changing the way consumers discover local businesses and what brands need to do to stay visible.

Celeste shares her unique Gen Z perspective, explaining how expectations for instant, personalized answers are reshaping search.

From Google’s AI overviews to TikTok’s new AI-powered reviews, she shows how local discovery is moving beyond keywords into conversational and visual search.

The message for businesses is clear: the more details you share—menus, options, quirks, photos, even small “know before you go” facts—the more likely AI will surface your brand in consumer journeys.
